Taught from a faith-oriented perspective, the course will equip you for Christian ministry or leadership and broaden your horizons. It is theologically and biblically rich as well as vocationally oriented The course offers depth and breadth in theological education. It provides advanced critical knowledge and skills in the theological disciplines, and their application to contemporary society and church.

Course Structure

24 subjects(15 core subjects + 9 electives)




Coursework option:

6 subjects (Guided Research + 5 electives)

Research option:

5 subjects (Theological Hermeneutics, Theology Masters Coursework Dissertation + 3 electives including Guided Research)

Core: Introduction to Old Testament Studies, Introduction to New Testament Studies, Introduction to Biblical Languages, The Synoptic Gospels, The Johannine Literature, The Prophetic Literature Elective: Paul and His Letters, Wisdom and Worship Traditions Elective: Contemporary Approaches to Biblical Studies, Seminar in Biblical and Theological Interpretation, Advanced Biblical Exegesis
Systematic Theology



Core: Introduction to Christian Theology, Being the Church, Jesus the Christ, Theological Ethics, The Triune God

Elective: God, Humanity and Difference

Elective: Classic Texts in Christian Theology, Political Theology, Contemporary Theology in a Global Context


Church History



Core: The Rise of Christianity to 600 CE,

The European Reformations 1400-1700

Elective: Religious Life in China, Global Christianity from 1700, History of Christianity in China

Elective: Church History Methodology, History of Christianity in China



Practical Theology Core: Practical Theology, Liturgical Theology

Elective: Christian Ministry, Pastoral Care, Christian Education

Elective: Contemporary Issues in Practical Theology, Studies in Liturgy and Worship, Public Theology
